Overview
Ideogram is an image generator built around text inside the image, reached in the browser at its own site or through a hosted API with its own applicable developer billing terms: that is its stated focus, which is what makes it a candidate for posters, packaging and typographic design rather than for concept art alone. We have not tested its lettering against other generators, and generated text still needs proofreading before it goes to print. Layerize Text goes further and lifts text out of an image as an editable layer, so lettering can be changed rather than regenerated - a beta, and not reliable on curved, decorative or densely embedded text. Two things decide whether it fits a brief. Free generation is public by default and its slow credits are granted weekly to eligible accounts in amounts the vendor does not fix, while private generation is listed for Plus and Pro. On data use, Ideogram's privacy policy lists training the models that power its services among the purposes it relies on its legitimate interests for, so uploading content is not a no-training arrangement. A sensible candidate when the image has to carry words - a poster, a packaging mock, a typographic layout - and when you will proofread the lettering before publishing, because it can still come out wrong. The finding you need before paying: free generation is public and free credits are variable and eligibility-bound, so anything confidential or on a deadline wants a paid plan, and commercial use of the self-hosted weights needs a separate licence rather than coming with the download.

It depends on the route.
