Overview
Leonardo.Ai is a hosted visual-creation platform with image generation, editing, video tools and custom model training. It offers its own and third-party models; access to a model in the app does not grant a separate licence to download or commercially host that model. References and editing controls depend on the selected tool. We have not tested image quality or character consistency against other products.
The public Pay Monthly table lists Free with 150 Fast Tokens a day, Essential at US$12/month with 8,500 a month, Premium at US$30/month with 25,000, and Ultimate at US$60/month with 60,000, before tax. Tokens are not image counts: the model, resolution, number of results and processing steps affect consumption. Free tokens do not accumulate; paid plans have capped rollover banks. The annual selector advertises savings of up to 20%, but exact annual totals were not verified in this review. API billing is separate from web tokens.
Commercial use, ownership and privacy are different questions. Official help permits commercial use of free outputs, but free generation is public and section 8.7 of the January 19, 2026 terms assigns transferable intellectual-property rights in free outputs to Leonardo. For paid users, sections 8.3β8.5 assign content rights to the user to the extent permitted by law. Content must also be set to Private to receive the stated protection against training or new-product development without express written consent; paid Public content can still be used under section 8.6.
Images can be downloaded, but export options vary by model and tool. The documented transparency workflow uses PNG; the Seedream 5.0 Pro API lists JPEG and PNG. Neither establishes platform-wide SVG or layered PSD export. Custom models trained on Leonardo cannot currently be downloaded, so image export is not a way to migrate the trained model.
