Overview

Suno turns a description into a song with vocals, and what you can then do with it depends on the plan rather than on the tool. Its pricing page lists Free with 50 credits a day, no monthly song downloads and no commercial rights; Pro at $8 a month billed annually, or $10 billed monthly, with 2,500 credits, 20 downloads a month, stem separation and commercial use rights; and Premier with Suno Studio, MIDI, effects and automation, 10,000 credits and 60 downloads a month. Two boundaries sit outside that table. Commercial rights attach to downloads made while you are subscribed: upgrading does not automatically grant them to songs created on the free plan, and Suno may grant rights for specific songs case by case, without a guarantee. And since the terms effective 3 September 2026, commercial use requires downloading through Suno's official channels. Remixes produced by activating the remix feature are co-created and are personal, non-commercial use only, on paid plans as well. Suno also notes that commercial rights are not the same thing as copyright protection.

Suno states that it uses certain user activity, submissions and chat information to improve its services, including to train and enhance the models behind them, and its terms require no further consents or payments for that use, including for a Voice Model. The choices its privacy notice lists do not include a training opt-out, and biometric data is kept for no more than three years after your last interaction (Suno Privacy Notice and Terms of Service, read 12 October 2026).

Whether Suno exposes a public API on its own billing, and whether a subscription would cover it, is still not established: the three official routes we requested on 12 October 2026 - suno.com/api, suno.com/developers and suno.com/api-docs - each resolved to the site's sign-in page with no readable documentation, and neither the Terms of Service nor the pricing page we read carries an API section. So nothing is claimed here about API availability or pricing: this is an unanswered question rather than a statement that no API exists (Suno API and developer routes, requested 12 October 2026).

Editor's take

Worth trying first if you want a finished song rather than a loop, and the plan details are published well enough to check before paying. Two things decide whether it fits: whether you need commercial rights or WAV downloads: free users can download MP3, while WAV downloads require Pro or Premier on the web and free creations do not include commercial rights, and whether you need the deeper editing that only the higher tiers carry. For paid work, read the timing rather than assuming a download settles everything: rights follow downloads made during the subscription, they require the official download channels, upgrading does not clear an earlier free creation automatically, and a remix co-creation stays personal.

Can I use Suno songs commercially?

If a project needs a track you can hand to a client, generate from material you have the rights to and download your own generation through the official channels rather than relying on a remix; we cannot confirm clearance for you.

Can I download the songs?

Suno’s download help lists MP3 on all plans, including Free. WAV requires Pro or Premier on suno.com; mobile downloads default to MP3, and available options vary by song, feature, plan and device. Format availability is not a promise of an included monthly download allowance or commercial rights. For commercial work, use official download channels; a song created on Free does not automatically become commercially licensed when downloaded later on a paid plan.
