ChatGPT vs Mistral Vibe

Two catalogue entries side by side. Not a benchmark: we have not tested these products against each other.

Catalogue checked September 23, 2026.

ChatGPT

Plan price reference: Plus $20/month; API usage is billed separately

  • Can produce confident but wrong answers
  • Available models and limits depend on the plan

Mistral Vibe

Plan price reference: Pro $14.99/month before tax; annual billing takes 20% off, with the final amount set at checkout

  • Capabilities and model availability vary by mode and plan; an open-weight family does not mean every mode runs the same model
  • No zero data retention for Vibe Work or Chat, because sessions and state have to be stored; ZDR is limited to approved stateless API use

Monthly and annual billing are different commitments: the annual figure is a prepayment, and an annual equivalent is not a monthly price. Nothing on this page is a test of output quality, and the list below names the official sources this entry uses with the date each was read - check them against the plan and the use you have in mind.

PriceDocumentedPlus is US$20 per month billed monthly. OpenAI lists Go, Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise as paid plans and states that they are priced per user per month, with monthly billing for Go, Plus and Business and annual billing for Business and Enterprise; the pricing page we read did not show the plan amounts.Source: OpenAI Help Center - What is ChatGPT Plus? · ChatGPT plans and pricingNot establishedThe pricing page now exposes USD/EUR and a country selector, and lists Pro $14.99/month and Team $24.99/user/month before tax. The flattened student and billing controls do not establish complete country/account/channel eligibility or each current checkout total.Source: Mistral - pricing · Mistral help - upgrading and billing cycle
AvailabilityDocumentedOpenAI publishes a supported-country and territory list for ChatGPT on web and mobile. It includes the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and Singapore; access from outside listed regions may lead to an account being blocked or suspended. This is a declared support policy, not a per-plan sales guarantee or a test of local network access.Source: OpenAI Help - ChatGPT supported countriesNot establishedVibe’s web/mobile/CLI/IDE entry points are documented, but current country-by-country distribution and plan eligibility are not established by the product or pricing body; hosting location is not access evidence.Source: Mistral - Vibe product and plans · Mistral - pricing
Commercial useDocumentedThe ChatGPT FAQ permits commercial use of outputs, including reprinting, selling and merchandising, for both free and paid plans, subject to OpenAI’s Content Policy and Terms. That permission does not remove the user’s obligations under those policies or establish rights in third-party material.Source: OpenAI Help - ChatGPT commercial outputsNot establishedThe current legal page could not be read. Product capabilities and enterprise deployment options do not establish Vibe output commercial-use permission or the conditions for actual generated material.Source: Mistral - Vibe product and plans
Training on your dataDocumentedOpenAI states that content from ChatGPT and Codex may be used to train its models; training can be turned off under Data controls or through the Privacy Portal and stops applying to later conversations; temporary chats are not used to train models; submitted feedback may still be used; and Business, Enterprise, Edu and API inputs and outputs are not used for training by default.Source: OpenAI Help Center - how your data is usedDocumentedCloud users can opt out of training in settings, Team admins control it for the organisation and Enterprise is opted out by default; the Vibe and Studio/API switches are separate.Source: Mistral help - training opt-out
API billingDocumentedThe API is a separate product with its own billing and is not part of a ChatGPT subscription.Source: OpenAI Help Center - What is ChatGPT Plus? Not establishedThe live pricing body lists API-credit figures and model/input-output rate rules, but the returned controls do not unambiguously tie every credit figure to Pro/student/Team eligibility or establish every endpoint’s inclusion. These mappings remain unknown.Source: Mistral help - training opt-out · Mistral help - zero data retention · Mistral - pricing
Export formatsDocumentedCompleted Deep Research reports in ChatGPT can be downloaded as Markdown, Word or PDF. Deep Research availability and usage depend on the plan, supported country or territory, and workspace permissions. The Word label does not establish a particular filename extension here; the evidence does not cover every ChatGPT surface or verify the correctness of exported reports.Source: OpenAI help — Deep research in ChatGPTNot establishedThe pricing page states spreadsheets/slides can be downloaded and lists document input formats. The actual downloadable output containers for reports/code and plan boundaries are not established; input formats are not output formats.Source: Mistral - Vibe product and plans · Mistral - plans and limits · Mistral - pricing
Usage limitsDocumentedPlus subscriptions may include usage limits such as message caps, and those limits may vary with system conditions; because model availability and limits change over time, OpenAI directs readers to the model picker for the options on their account.Source: OpenAI Help Center - What is ChatGPT Plus?DocumentedRead on 12 October 2026. Marks the free plan only as limited messages and web searches and limited coding sessions without numbers, lists document libraries at Limited, 15GB and 30GB per user across tiers, and gives one dated daily example of 150 Flash answers a day on Pro against 200 on Team.Source: Mistral - plans and limits

What the listings already say

Taken from this site's own entries, so the wording follows the vendors' terms rather than ours; it is our summary of their published material, not their text.

How is Mistral Vibe different from ChatGPT?

Both are assistants sold on a monthly subscription with a free tier and an API billed separately. What these two listings establish: Vibe Pro is $14.99 a month before tax and Team $24.99 per user, monthly or annual with a 20% annual discount settled at checkout, against ChatGPT Plus at $20 a month billed monthly, with ChatGPT plan names and prices varying by region. Vibe is split into Work, Code and Chat modes and lists text, voice, PDF, image, CSV and Office files as input, alongside research, documents and presentations, image generation, connectors and code tasks; ChatGPT counts voice, image generation and file analysis in one subscription next to its file and browsing features. On data the conditions differ: a Vibe cloud account opts out of training in settings, Team admins control it for the organisation and Enterprise is opted out by default, while zero data retention is not available for Vibe Work or Chat because sessions and state are stored - ZDR applies to approved stateless API use - and ChatGPT states that consumer content may be used for training with an opt-out, that temporary chats are not used for training, and that Business, Enterprise, Edu and API inputs and outputs are not used by default. Self-hosting Vibe is an Enterprise option, and the open-weight model family does not give a normal cloud account that. Compare the mode and the plan you are buying.
